Fashion Event: Monki Kuala Lumpur Opens Doors to Public

H&M's rebellious younger sister, Monki has finally opened its doors to Malaysian shoppers on the 30th April 2014. Upon arrival, guests were greeted with huge gold balloons spelling out the brand name and a plethora of exciting prints on casual clothing. One cannot deny that Monki is for the girls who does not live by the rules and adventurous, and I, of course went on a little shopping frenzy at the launch. How do you resist animal printed socks, seriously?

This Swedish-based brand in the latest addition to Kuala Lumpur's list of finest high street stores and it is currently located in Nu Sentral shopping mall, just opposite KL Sentral station. Do pay them a visit this weekend as fellow blogger, DJ Jane Chuck will be spinning great tunes for the shoppers. Plus, there will be a manicure and hair chalking service for those who just wants to try them out. Trust me, once you've been Monkified, you might not turn back.

Relaunch of Tiffany & Co KLCC and The Great Gatsby Ring

Finding the right ring for you and your partner would be one of the processes of preparing for your wedding - and it's the part that I dread the most. Considering that I'm really picky with my accessories (since I only wear minimal statement pieces and that I'm not a diamonds kind of girl) it was pretty difficult to hunt for the 'right one'.

I only wanted rose gold, since my usual accessories would mostly be made out of organic material - strings, leather, metal and in earthy colors. Getting a white gold ring would just limit me in accessorizing later on after the wedding. Plus, I put emphasis on the design rather than the size of the rock. I just could not settle with the common designs available in the market. Call me a hipster if you want, but you're spending four to five digits on a ring that you have to live with for the rest of your life. Of course I want to fall in love with it too!

I wanted a ring that was thin, in rose gold and exudes a luxe vintage aura. I'm sure you get the drift of it. That pretty much scaled down my choices to probably about 5% in the whole Malaysian market. However, there was one ring that caught my attention from Tiffany & Co so while I was there for their KLCC Relaunch party, I couldn't help but look around for it. It was unsuccessful, but there were definitely interesting designs to look at, unlike any other jewelry store I've been to.

I was so tempted to get one right then and there, but I had to adopt the shopaholic mantra for now. We have so much to pay for during our wedding month so I had to skip. I did tell point8cam that once my heist plan is successful I'll definitely treat myself to a nice simple ring from Tiffany & Co (that was a joke, in case if you had a split second thought of reporting me to the cops).

Oh, and I totally forgot to tell you that I saw the Gatsby ring, and other accessories that were in The Great Gatsby movie.

adidas NEO & Selena Gomez in New York

Apologies for not being able to update much lately, I've been busy with work and drowning myself in Pretty Little Liars as I stumbled upon it during my flight to New York. Speaking of New York, I know it's been almost two weeks since but the memories are still as fresh as the daily baked bakery bread to me. I was flown to New York to represent Southeast Asia among other bloggers from around the world to meet Selena Gomez and be a part of adidas NEO label's first fashion show, which coincidentally happened at the beginning of New York Fashion Week.

It was such a great experience meeting other bloggers from different country, background and styles. I was definitely intrigued by the way each one of us styled ourselves in NEO with our usual outfits. There were so many people who asked me about Selena, as we had the chance to meet her in person for a Q&A session and to explain the styles that we have chosen for the show. Selena was a super sweet, soft spoken and petite girl. There's no wonder she's doing very well as she seems like a pretty humble and centered girl. Selena is adidas NEO label's latest ambassador, who is also working with the label to design things that she likes especially for her fans.

adidas NEO had a Polyvore contest in which 20 000+ entries of ensembles were received from Selena and NEO's lovely fans to be included in the runway show. We had to choose only 20+ from the shortlisted ones and the ones chosen were showcased that night at the runway show itself.

Thank you adidas NEO, I had a lovely time with all of you from the dinner at Toy, to the pre-show preparations, the Rockerfeller and NBC Tour down to the fashion show itself. Check out these behind-the-scene and runway photos taken by me, other bloggers and adidas NEO label and some videos too!
