It's that time of the year again where the biggest week in Malaysia's fashion world will take place in the heart of the city showcasing crème de la crème within the industry. This year, Bobbi Brown will be the official makeup partner for Kuala Lumpur's Fashion Week, making sure the models are catwalk ready with their game face on.

The Malaysian Bobbi Brown team invited me not too long ago to meet their makeup experts, have a quick makeup session with them and play with their products. Like, seriously. What did I do in the past life to deserve blessed moments like this. Play with makeup and get a makeover? Hell, yes. I roped in Charis Ow to join me cause I can be socially awkward at times, and what's a makeover if not with a girlfriend, yes? We were introduced to the team, who were either colouring the face chart, or testing out looks on a model. I was calm on the exterior but inside it felt like I was hyperventilating to be surrounded by tons of makeup items. 

The team is no amateur to the KL Fashion Week scene as this is their second time participating, showing their skills and talents to complete the look of the designers' collections. The planning started as far back as January, and browsing through the looks I believe they were put into so much consideration and thought I could almost see how it would fit some local designers' essences that I know. This year, they will be bringing in 5 international makeup artistes to help create magic backstage. I seriously cannot wait to see the real deal happening (hopefully I'm around to do this) this June. For someone who is into home decor like me (yes, it happened since I got married and moved into a studio), I've been trying to contain this mini fireworks of excitement when I received a rumour that H&M Home will be in Malaysia this year. Now I can finally let everything burst by letting you know that yes, the rumours are true. 

I had to calm myself down, drink a glass of iced water, and spread the news that affordable, chic home decor by H&M will be available in the Avenue K store by end of July 2014. Malaysia will be the first country to be selling H&M Home in Southeast Asia, an addition of fashionable, fun interior products to the existing mammoth stores they have in Kuala Lumpur. 

The range will cater everything from household essentials to decorative touches. Designed in-house by their Head of Design, Eveline Kravaev Söderberg and her team, there will be something for every room in the house. Luxurious bed linens, towels, bathmats, kitchenware and more, check out the Autumn designs in the photos below.

So far life has taught me that the best choices do not come from a box of expected decisions. Giving chances to yourself to indulge and be renewed is the best gift, and knowing that you deserve this would be your secret to be happier.

I wish someone told me sooner, how beautiful life would be when you stop looking at the bigger picture and focus on the small things that we tend to ignore - the lights, the air, the scent, the colors of everything inspiring. We tend to take things for granted and let the daily grind get to us, and next thing we know we burn out. Indulgence is a luxury that we should do more often, no matter the scale. There are times in life where you deserve to indulge yourselves, swim in things you love and feel like the world is singing in your tune.  Self-indulging in guilty pleasures doesn’t mean that you’re being selfish – it’s a sign of self-love and to know that you’re worthy of good things.

What are your guilty pleasures in life? I have so many things I love doing, but if I have to pick a few, it’ll be pretty much just doing things I love and the satisfaction of reaping what I sowed from the hard work I’ve done.

Dressing out of my comfort zone

I usually dress very simple on a daily basis, mostly tanks and jeans or shorts. However, I do have my days where I dress a little better, and I like stepping out of my comfort zone and try out a new outfit that I never did before. However, the best one is just to be confident in my own skin, and rock my outfit. I love putting a little bit of detailed touch in what I wear – it’s the cut of the garment, the stitching, color or even a bit of embellishments like studs.

Spraying on my favorite scent

I usually rely on my natural scent (and a little bit of that shower gel), rarely wearing any perfume when I go out but once in a while, spraying on my favourite scent feels luxurious and I love how I’d feel more complete especially when I’m dressed to impress. My current favourite right now is the Gucci Stud perfume. I love sweet, floral scents with an attitude and this perfume does the job to make me feel like the rebel rockstar child (and a little bit of the Kate Moss rock chic edge).

Go to a music event – concert/ gig/ festival

Another favourite thing of mine to indulge in would be music. I love partying, but I would prefer a concert with a killer band any day. I feel that music could elevate and bring emotions out of a person and the experience of hearing my favorite band live would be one hell of an experience to take home and remember for the rest of my life!

Traveling to a new place

If you know me very well, you’d totally understand that being able to travel and be somewhere with a different environment is my ultimate indulgence. Although I do it as a job, I always appreciate the moments I get when I’m able to experience new things, see new faces and embark on an adventure. My ultimate guilty pleasure is being able to just sit at a place with a killer view with my travel partner and embrace the moment. Most of the time, places with silence are the best and I’m definitely always game for an adventurous road trip with a mission.

H&M's rebellious younger sister, Monki has finally opened its doors to Malaysian shoppers on the 30th April 2014. Upon arrival, guests were greeted with huge gold balloons spelling out the brand name and a plethora of exciting prints on casual clothing. One cannot deny that Monki is for the girls who does not live by the rules and adventurous, and I, of course went on a little shopping frenzy at the launch. How do you resist animal printed socks, seriously?

This Swedish-based brand in the latest addition to Kuala Lumpur's list of finest high street stores and it is currently located in Nu Sentral shopping mall, just opposite KL Sentral station. Do pay them a visit this weekend as fellow blogger, DJ Jane Chuck will be spinning great tunes for the shoppers. Plus, there will be a manicure and hair chalking service for those who just wants to try them out. Trust me, once you've been Monkified, you might not turn back.

There are so many ways an individual can follow to reduce their carbon footprint on a daily basis - car pooling, recycle materials like paper and plastic, turn off electricity switch when not in use, reduce printing on paper, and use shopping bags instead of plastic bags when shopping. However, here are a few creative up-cycling and DIY things you can try from old everyday materials to save cost and wastage:

1. Toilet paper roll to store USB cables

Collect a few empty toilet rolls, tape them together to fit inside a shoe box and fill them up with your usb or important cables so you won't lose them again! Just remember to put them back in storage when you're done using them.

2. DIY water sprinkler or watering cans

Use a normal water bottles and poke holes at the bottom to create an easy DIY water sprinkler for your garden.

4. Turn your liquor/ glass bottles into soap, shampoo or lotion dispenser

I've seen this while traveling where the house owner turned old Vodka bottles into soap/ shampoo dispensers but putting a pump cover (you can buy this at home DIY stores) on top. Pretty nifty trick to reuse old glass bottles. If you don't drink, even those soda, juice concentrate bottles works just the same.

5. Turn tool boxes, egg cartons into mini gardens.

Upcycle any containers into a mini herb garden at your own home. It works even if you live in an apartment. Plus, it's a great activity with your children and get them to start young.
